Ride For Peace -Topic For All Bands-

For all Cypriot Metal Bands and Artists

Postby (DK)Death » Sun Jun 29, 2008 10:01 pm

As much as it seems to be a nice idea, its going to be very difficult. First of all if you are planning it for the summer period you should have planned and talked to correct people long time ago. AS you know Cypriot mentally is anything but speed

First of all about the Turkish band Pentagram as you might have noticed they are Turks, and for a turk to enter the south side he/she needs schengen visa, its not really an issue of talking to the correct people but applying and getting the visa beforehand.

If you plan on organising the festival on the northern side, lets be realistic, from a nation who cant even organise a bus from Nicosia to Larnaca properly don't expect something like this

As for the UN, they will not be fucked to organize anything, as you have been told.

My suggestion is talk to a municipality such as the Strovolos one and have a music festival like with had two year at the Acropolis park. Greek and Turkish bands, everybody spreads the word, give adds to the newspaper. done everybody happy. I suggest you contact EDON as they are the youth organization of Akel and they do organize things as such

I have a few contacts from Akel and EDON, if you need my input i am more than willing to help

the situation u missed is we cant take shengen easyl this is not a solution and Advent Northern's members are fully turk.you have chance to pass northern side there is no regulation for you and for turkish cypriots.as you can guess turkey has big role and power than northern cyprus.what i mean is i will make this festival by the power of turkey i will bring biggets music channel, famous metal bands, and much more not only cyprus bands.so there is a problem arise the percentage of bands who will play is higly turkish at least %50.if we want that to realize we may guess every body can not take shengen to pass your side..right? so it should be done in the northern side its easy and cheaper to come northern side but from turkey it is long and costly.so thing about that.turkey has big potential as a youth audiance.i can easly say if this happens at least 5000 turkish youth will attend from turkey.this is the minimum number.so both side should make coordinated actions..like you guys may organize transportation with bus to northern side also so many people have theirs own car..i am planning to call Judas Priest also.Headliners should be like Judas Priest,Rotting Christ,Pentagram,Orphaned Land...Also there is many good metal groups from turkey like Soul sacriface,Moribund OBlivion(i bring them last year to northern side and we gave concert together),Black Tooth(they went to texas as a honored guests to Rİde FOr Dime Fest),ALmora...etc..

anyway,we should talk with munipilicies in this week waiting for feedbacks.

Personally i don’t like this thing with the "Motherlands", band from Greece and Turkey. The issue in Cyprus is not the Turkey and Greece relations but the GreekCypriot and TurkishCypriot relations. That’s why prefer “Cypriots” solving there own problems within the Island.
I love my country witch is Cyprus I don’t point to any flags etc Just my little island witch is called Cyprus. Thus I believe if you’re planning to make a gig for the Cypriots then make it With Cypriots from both sides.
With good and strong promotion in South and North we can have a big Metal crowd, I understand there will be a problem with the headliner, that’s why you can bring a band outside Greece/Turkey/Cyprus so you may pleased the Sponsor’s

But this is my opinion heh and my way of viewing the things around me.
Just keep it real dude
