Shape of Despair

Postby Infiltrator » Wed Jul 23, 2008 6:11 pm

Shape of Despair is a funeral doom metal band from Finland that was formed in 1995 as Raven. They changed their name in September 1998. The band's music, which can be described as slow, atmospheric, gothic, and cold, is composed using keyboards, flutes and violins, with very slow drums and grinding guitar chords. Shape of Despair's music is comparable to that of Skepticism, but their songs are more symphonic and are recorded with more precise production values. The band is signed to Spinefarm Records.

Shape of Despair's first recording under their current name was the 1998 Promo tape. This was also their first recording released to the public, as Alone in the Mist was never officially distributed. The band has since released three albums and a compilation, and also participated in the 2006 Skepticism tribute album.

Not bad, wouldn't mind listening to them.
Good music, and they do show true signs of doom metal, that originates from Finland.
I agree with Triarcho about Skepticism. A must-listen album indeed.
Let your soul drown in the melody of piano.
