The Black Dahlia Murder

Postby rot_n_roll » Fri Jun 20, 2008 6:22 pm

My personal favourite of all the new "-core" metal bands.

The Black Dahlia Murder (TBDM) is a melodic death metal/metalcore band from Waterford, Michigan, and is a leader in the Detroit music scene.The Black Dahlia Murder is named after the unsolved murder of actress Elizabeth Short, often referred to as Black Dahlia.

Studio albums

* Unhallowed (2003)
* Miasma (2005)
* Nocturnal (2007)

To me they sound like At The Gates + blast beats + some black metal vocals + some hardcore elements

Don't know where this anti-core sentiment comes from. I guess there's just some people who prefer metal with a more old-school or traditional sound and feel to it.
That's why I compared tbdm to atg, to see if any other fellow atg fan would tell me his/her opinion about them.

i know. all of these core genres is just the way music is evolving. like metalcore has evolved from metal. doesn't mean we have to love it and forget the old metal. we can appreciate all of it and quit moaning!
Lamb Of God are often considered metalcore and look at how much everyone loves them!

Yeah good example. Lamb of god are considered bad-ass scandinavian style death/thrash by some and commercial mallcore by others :P I belong to the first group :D
